Half-Day Workshop
A fast-paced, engaging introduction to stop-motion animation. Ideal as a taster session or arts module. This can include rice animation, object animation and simple cut-outs.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the basics of stop-motion
- Plan a simple narrative
- Design and construct simple paper characters and props
- Capture a short animation sequence
- Work effectively in small teams
Output
- 5-15 second animated clip per group
Full-Day Workshop
A deeper, more structured experience allowing for refined storytelling and higher-quality animation. Covering paper cut-out animation, and/or charcoal animation.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand and apply core animation principles
- Develop strong narratives and visual planning
- Build detailed, multi-part characters and layered sets
- Use lighting, camera stability, and continuity techniques
- Edit with titles, sound, and simple effects
- Reflect critically on process and outcomes
Output:
- 20–50 second animated short per group
